Hi, I’m Denee Webster — a portrait and figure artist based in Jacksonville, Florida. I was born in Jamaica, raised in Homewood, Illinois, and fell in love with oil painting during high school at Homewood-Flossmoor. Since then, I’ve been developing my voice as an artist, creating vibrant, expressive work that captures the individuality and spirit of the people I paint.
Before pursuing art full-time, I served in the U.S. military for four years — an experience that shaped my discipline, resilience, and sense of purpose. That same purpose now fuels my creative work, especially in the commissions I take on.
I love commissioned portraits because they challenge me creatively while giving me a clear mission: to honor someone’s favorite moment or memory. The challenge keeps me inspired, and the structure gives me peace of mind.
While commissions are my main focus, I’m also building a personal body of work and stepping into the gallery space. My goal is to share my perspective more widely — to create art that connects, resonates, and invites people to slow down and really see the human stories behind the paint.
Thanks for being here. I hope my work moves you.
Commissioning an oil painting is an investment in a timeless, personalized work of art that offers unmatched depth, luminosity and longevity. By choosing oil as a medium, you’ll own a cherished piece for generations, while also supporting skilled, living artists who bring these beautiful creations to life.
The cost of a commission depends on a number of factors, like size, complexity of the subject, as well as associated shipping costs. This will be discussed during our consultation and locked in once the contract is signed.
The time it takes again depends on size and complexity. During the consultation, a time frame will be established and I will make every effort to complete the work within the agreed upon time frame. I will notify you immediately if circumstances arise that may impact the deadline.
Signing a contract is an important part of the commission process because it protects both you, the client, and me, the artist. It ensures both parties have a clear understanding of the scope of the project, the agreed upon price, timeline, and any other term discussed. This avoids misunderstandings. It is standard practice in the professional world and helps to maintain transparency and mutual trust.
